Mentorship Mix & Mingle

It only takes one connection to make a difference. Networking and mentorship relationships can facilitate goal setting, empower and build confidence. Join us for a power hour of roundtables with peers and mentors from across the country and enjoy stimulating conversations about topics ranging from career transitions to burnout to life in the sandwich generation. Spaces are limited and reserved for CWIM Partners so register early!

Self- Defence

Friday, May 24 from 8:15am to 9:00am AT

This workshop will begin with the performance of kata, a routine featuring ‘Kiai’. Participants will be given a brief orientated and will learn three basic facts and three myths of self-defence. Then, we’ll get up from our seats and walkthrough the 5 Ds of defence (depart, deter, deflect, defend, and destabilize). For the last four Ds, participants will have an opportunity to practice with a partner after a demonstration of each.

CWIM Hits the Coast:

A Lobster & Laughter
Kitchen Party

$135.00 to attend SOLD OUT

Join us Friday evening for a kitchen party! We'll meet at the Halifax Waterfront, at Pier 21, an award-winning national historic site. Here we'll enjoy a delicious lobster dinner (chicken and vegetarian options also available) followed by live east coast music and dancing. A cash bar will be available. Tickets for this event must be purchased separately through CWIM Organization (you will see a link when you register for the conference) with proceeds going to a local charity.

Inner & Interpersonal Mindfulness
A brief tour

Friday, May 24 from 7:30am - 8:10am AT & 9:00am to 9:40am AT

Led by Dr. Nicole Herschenhous

In this short session, we will practice mindful awareness of sensations of external stimuli, the body, and the breath, steadying focused attention.  We'll then use that attention to investigate the workings of the mind, and then take a peek at the nature of awareness itself.  Broadening our attention, we will integrate these four dimensions.  We'll then learn and practice mindful speaking and listening to discuss our experience.  If time permits, we will also do a brief mindful movement practice.
