Who is this conference for?

The Canadian Women in Medicine (CWIM) Conference is the largest annual gathering of women physicians and one of the largest medical conferences in Canada. Our last four conferences have hosted more than 4000 women physicians for best in class CME on topics related to wellness and personal & professional development. Do I have to be a physician to register?

Yes. The Canadian Women in Medicine Conference is for physicians only. Our mandate is to support the well-being of women physicians (including all who identify as women) by providing a safe and supportive environment to learn and connect with each other.  Our event also sells out each year, therefore we reserve our registration for physicians only. 

Is there a special rate for paid partners of the Canadian Women in

Medicine Organization? 

Yes! CWIM Partners will have early access priority registration and receive a discount until Jan 3rd 9am PST/noon EST. In-person registration and workshops have historically sold-out during the early access period, so becoming a CWIM Partner is your best bet to secure a spot. I am a CWIM Partner. Where do I get my early access code? 

Your access code for early registration is the email address you used to register as a partner.  If your email isn't recognized, please send a note to cwimorg@gmail.com to check your partner status and confirm the correct email address. 

**PLEASE NOTE: You must be a registered partner PRIOR to registration opening for your email address to be recognized for early access. If you join after this time, please allow up to 5 business days for your email to be added due to large volumes **

Can I register if I am not Canadian? 

Yes! We have attendees join us from all across the world! You can register on or after  January 3rd 2022 if you are not a CWIM Partner. Please select "other" under Provincial College Affiliation and please email us at conference@cwimgather.com with your details so that we can complete your registration.

Are the conference and workshops accredited?

The CWIM Conference prides itself in presenting high-quality CME accredited content and we are thrilled to share that CWIM Conference 2022 is now accredited.

 

“This Group Learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the British Columbia Chapter for up to 21.75  Mainpro+ credits.”

 

“The 2022 Canadian Women in Medicine Conference is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1), as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and was approved by the Canadian Ophthalmological Society. Physicians may claim a maximum of 21.75 hours.”

What about the infamous CWIM Swag Bag/Box? 

We will again have a limited number of Swag Boxes that will be mailed out to our Registrants....and yes, it will be even more fabulous than last year. We will update the site when the Swag Boxes are sold out. Both in-person and virtual registrants will receive a box mailed to their home.

What is the conference refund policy?

I've already registered, but I want to add a workshop or change my

address. How can I do this? 

You can make changes to your personal information, or add workshops anytime by clicking the login link in your confirmation email. You can also visit the registration website and select Modify my Registration or Resend Confirmation Email. 

I didn't receive a confirmation email. Should I register again? 

No! Please check your spam folder first. You can also resend yourself a confirmation email anytime. Just visit the registration site and select Resend Confirmation Email from the drop-down menu. 

What if I can't make every session? 

Not a problem! All session will be recorded and available for viewing for six months after the conference. This is included for both in-person and virtual attendees. Some round table sessions are not recorded for privacy reasons but all main stage plenary sessions will be available.

How do I book hotel accomodations for the conference? 

Yes! We have a block of discounted rooms at the Fairmont Empress, which is attached to our venue, the Victoria Conference Center. We also have other nearby partner hotels with various room types available..  Please visit our Hotel pages for details and the registration link. 

I am flying into Victoria. Are there any travel discounts? 

We have negotiated a special discount with Air Canada for flights to and from the conference.

Can I bring my baby?

Of course - we love babies! Babes on laps are welcome to attend and we will have a beautifully appointed nursing and pumping room with an audiovisual feed of the live conference so you don't miss a thing. We will also have stroller parking and many willing participants to lend a hand so you can enjoy the conference. 

Can partners and older children attend? Is childcare available? 

In previous years we did plan for child care, but found the uptake very low. We have found that most attendees use this weekend as one to recharge and connect with friends and colleagues. We ask that only registered attendees enter the conference space and exhibit hall because we will have limited space and carefully planned meals just for attendees. Stay tuned for a list of great activities for partners (or other child care helpers you may bring) and children to take advantage of while in Victoria. 

Why do I see the option of registering for virtual workshops if I am

attending in person? 

All virtual workshops will come with the recording that can be viewed for six months. If you want to attend a live session that conflicts with a session being live-streamed or offered virtually, you can register to view the recording on your own time at a later date. 

I registered to come in person but I want to switch to virtual - can I?

What happens if the conference can't take place in-person due to COVID?

All registrations will be converted to virtual and the difference in registration fees will be refunded. Please see our cancellation and COVID policies HERE

What about all the great networking and connection that happens at 

CWIM In-Person Conferences? 

We have incorporated some amazing opportunities to connect with your colleagues that hopefully mirror the experiences you'd get at an in-person event (minus all the hugs). From a very "vibrant" activity feed, to sharing thoughts & photos on the platform, virtual round table sessions, and interactive question periods, we promise you will feel some of the same warm and fuzzy feelings you've gotten from in-person CWIM Conferences. You'll also be able to connect directly with in-person attendees this year via our conference app! 

I registered virtually but now I want to come in person - can I switch? 

You can upgrade your registration to in-person space permitting. We anticipate that in-person registration will sell out quickly. You can also register virtually and add yourself to the in-person waitlist at the same time if it is already sold out. 

Do I need any special technical skills to attend a virtual conference? 

No! The course will be held on a user-friendly platform and no technical skills are required. We do advise to ensure a high-speed internet connection to ensure the stream is clear. 

Can we get together with friends and watch the conference as a group? 

We do anticipate some smaller groups gathering across the country to view the conference together. In fact, we have hotel discounts across the country and options to help you book meeting space for remote groups. However, please keep in mind that all members present and viewing MUST be independently registered for the event. In order to claim CME credits, claim your expenses and receive a swag box, you must be registered for the conference. If unregistered persons are found to be viewing the event, they and their friends will be removed from the conference, without reimbursement. 

I need to escape my house to watch the conference!

Is there a hotel discount in my city? 

We have hotel discounts in many cities across Canada! If your city is not listed and there are several people interested in booking, please email us at conference@cwimgather.com and we can set something up. 

What is the difference between a virtual and live-streamed workshop? 

Virtual workshops have the speaker presenting virtually direct to a virtual audience within our conference platform. Live-streamed sessions are in-person presentations that are streamed into our virtual platform. Both of these will have the ability to post chat and Q & A, but the live-streamed sessions will also have an in-person audience present. Both types of virtual workshops will have recordings available for six months.
