Dr. Ali Zentner

Dr. Ali Zentner received her undergraduate medical degree from McMaster University and completed her Internal Medicine Residency with an extra year of Cardiology training at the University of Calgary. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She is a clinical associate at UBC Department of Internal Medicine. She has been in practice for over 20 years as a specialist in Obesity and Metabolic Medicine.


Ali is the author of The Weight Loss Prescription (Penguin Books, 2015) and the medical advisor to Global National and CBC. With a wealth of clinical and practical experience, Dr. Zentner built Revolution Medical Clinic and serves as its Medical Director. The clinic has been recognized as a centre of excellence by the European Association for the Study of Obesity. It is one of the largest multidisciplinary clinics in Canada run exclusively through the socialized health care system.


Her current outreach projects focus on Truth and Reconciliation within Indigenous Communities where she is partnering with several First Nations’ Communities in British Columbia establishing metabolic clinics that focus on trauma informed care.


Dr. Zentner is the founder and director of the Canadian Obesity Peer Support Program- an online and in person peer support educational platform for clinicians wanting to learn about obesity.

clinicians in a peer support setting.


Ali is also the founder and director of The Obesity Project (www.nofatshame.com) a multilevel educational program that addresses weight bias in medicine. The project involves patients and clinicians and educates medical trainees, doctors and nurses on weight sensitivity and bias. It currently is working to promote weight sensitivity training in all medical schools and residency programs across Canada.
