CWIM 2022 charities

We are pleased to support the following charities for our 2022 event!

society for children and youth of BC

The Society for Children and Youth of BC is a not-for-profit organization based in Vancouver  that serves children province-wide. Our mission is to foster the well-being and resilience of  children and youth in British Columbia by advancing their civic, political, economic, social,  cultural and legal rights. Having been in operation for almost 50 years, we have a rich history of  work.

Our current primary projects include Child and Youth Friendly Communities (CYFC), Child Rights  Public Awareness, and the SCY Child and Youth Legal Centre. The Child and Youth Legal Centre  provides free legal services in the areas of family law, child protection, human rights and with  many other legal issues. This service is provided directly to young people under 19, with a  particular focus on vulnerable, immigrant, and Indigenous children and youth. It is an essential  service which is not offered by anyone else in BC for non-criminal cases. Through our Child  Rights Public Awareness Campaign, we deliver workshops and educational materials on  children's rights to youth and adult stakeholders throughout the province, with materials  available in 7 different languages. Finally, the CYFC program works with municipalities to help  build a better city for children and youth through consultation and programming directly for  children regarding various planning initiatives.

women's shelters Canada

We are working towards a world where:

  • Everybody matters – people of all genders, all cultures, all faiths, all abilities are valued and have equitable access to resources, power and justice, and all are safe from violence.

  • Society uses an inclusive, intersectional, equity-based lens to make decisions.

  • Organizations and systems are collaborative and accountable.

  • The Earth, on which we all depend for survival, is protected.

Our Mission

We provide a strong, unified, pan-Canadian voice on the issue of violence against women. With our voice, we help increase awareness to ensure that policies, legislation and regulations are informed by the experiences and insights of our members, the provincial and territorial shelter networks.

We create opportunities to exchange ideas, learn from one another and share resources. We connect knowledgeable and dedicated individuals from coast to coast to coast, so that new ideas are born, best practices are promoted and transferred and those who work in our challenging field feel

more connected and more supported. All of this helps to ensure the women and children who turn to shelters and transition houses receive the most effective and compassionate support possible.

tree canada

Tree Canada is the only national non-profit organization dedicated to planting and nurturing trees in rural and urban environments. Through our programs, research and engagement efforts, we have helped restore tree cover in areas hit by natural disasters, guided communities in managing their urban forests, supported over 700 schoolyard greening projects and organized urban forest conferences. To date, with our community partners and sponsors, we have planted more than 83 million trees.

Together, we are working to ensure our communities are green, vibrant, and liveable.

CWIM is committing to planting 2000+ seedlings across Canada this year.
